“TO MY TEAM”
1st we had a lot of wind, then we had some rain and then came the hail, all before you guys even raced. It was one of those fall cross country races in Wisconsin. This is why cross country is such a really great sport. You never know what’s going to happen but everybody has to do it.
I was extremely proud of the effort that my team put forth yesterday. I know some of you were not happy with your results. You need to just move on. If you gave everything you had to your race then you need to be proud of your accomplishment. I didn’t see anybody out there not giving 100 percent. We had 2 runners almost make it to the next level. As a team we need to build on that so all of us can be knocking on that door next year.
On June 11th of this year I was standing at Goodrich Park at 7:00am wondering who was going to show up for practice that morning. 26 of you showed up and that is why I do it. I come to every practice and every race just to help you guys become better runners and because I love being around you. I am excited with you and I cry with you when things don’t go right. All I ever want to see is happiness in your faces. Running is my life and I want to pass that love on to every one of you. I hope I can convince you to keep running your whole life. From April 1st thru November 1st the only thing important to me is Milton school district kids and helping them become runners. From November 1st to April 1st all I want to see happen is April 1st get there. Hopefully, I will be allowed to still be a part of your life’s so I can be standing at Goodrich Park on June 10th, 2019 at 7:00am wondering who is going to show up for practice.
SENIORS – I have had the privilege of knowing some of you for over 6 years. It is amazing how you have grown from kids to young adults. You all will have a special place in my heart and I hope you know I am always here for you. I have enjoyed your ups and I feel your downs so don’t ever think I have taken any of you for granted. Your next step in life is it to move on to doing great things. I can only hope you keep running in your life. I now move on from being your coach to hopefully being your friend!
